License Plate Light & Exterior Assembly Upgrades
Maybe your license plate housing cracked, maybe you just swapped in an LED tail light kit and now the factory bulb looks dim and yellow next to it. Either way you are here because one specific exterior light needs to come off your vehicle and get replaced with something built better. So pick the light that is actually failing or bugging you and go straight to it, not the whole lighting system at once.
If you are wiring a license plate light bar with a reverse function into a truck that has BLIS (blind spot monitoring built into the tail lights), tap into the trailer wiring instead of splicing into the factory reverse circuit. We have seen tapping the reverse circuit directly trigger BLIS fault codes on 2020 F-150s, and the trailer wire tap avoids that entirely. Worth noting before you start cutting into anything back there.
