Halogen Headlights
Halogen Headlights for Your Truck or SUV
We swapped a customer's stock halogen headlights on a driveway last spring in about twenty minutes, no wiring, no modules, just bulb plugs and four housing bolts. That is the whole appeal of halogen. It is simple, it works, and it does not ask you to become an electrician on a Saturday afternoon.
Still, halogen is not the whole story anymore.
When a customer wanted the look of the Alpharex Luxx-style housing but did not want to replace a whole assembly if a bulb ever burned out, our fitment team pointed them to the Pro version instead. Same design, but it runs halogen bulbs so a single bulb can be swapped without touching the housing, and the standing recommendation for that setup is stepping up to a 2Stroke 4.0 bulb rather than living with stock output.
Worth noting: for factory projector housings, our support team recommends HID over LED. Either will often physically fit, but LED and HID replacement bulbs are not DOT/FMVSS108 compliant for headlight use in the USA and are street legal for fog light use only.
Halogen Now, Ready to Upgrade Later
In practice, we see two kinds of buyers here: the guy replacing a cracked or foggy factory-style halogen housing as-is, and the guy who wants a housing for a quick cosmetic refresh on an older vehicle that still has good bulbs. Alpharex Pro housings are some of the highest quality aftermarket halogen assemblies we have worked with, so if you land on either path this is a good place to start. If you already know you want to move past halogen output entirely, our LED Headlights lineup is the next step up.
