LED Reverse Lights That Actually Light Up the Dark
Backing up at night with a factory reverse bulb is a guessing game. Stock incandescent reverse lights were never built to actually help you see, just to warn other people you're moving, and that gap gets worse the moment you hitch a trailer or back into a dark driveway. This category covers LED reverse bulb upgrades, including kits tested on specific trucks, plus LED cargo light bulbs for the same job up on the tailgate.
We've bench tested the GTR Lighting Ultra Series reverse bulb at 1,200 raw lumens per bulb, which is roughly what a stock halogen headlight bulb puts out. That is not a typo. But fitment is not universal.
Older Dodge Ram taillights that use a socket-board or plate system will not accept these bulbs, because the rubber grommet that seals and holds the Ultra bulb in place has nothing to grip on a plate-style housing. For those trucks you want a standard clip-in LED bulb instead, not the grommet-style Ultra.

Confirm your bulb size before you order. On the 09-18 Ram the socket splits between 921 and 7440 depending on whether the truck has reflector or projector headlights, and a mismatched bulb will not seat no matter how hard you push it. If you're already back there swapping bulbs, take a look at Turn Signal Bulbs too, since most plug into the same style socket.
