RGB Controllers & Parts for Halo and Strip Lighting
You just mounted a set of color-changing halos or a run of RGB strip lighting, and now you need something to actually drive it. A controller, the correct wiring or splitter, and a bead of butyl glue to reseal the housing are what separate a finished retrofit from a project sitting half-open on the bench. This is where those pieces live, so you can get the rest of the install buttoned up and back on the truck.
Our go-to recommendation on most builds is still the Morimoto XBT. It is a three-channel Bluetooth controller that pairs cleanly with iPhone or Android, and on a single unit it can run two halos plus two LED strips at once, up to its max amp rating, using the splitters and extensions built for it. It costs more than a basic RF unit. Even so, if the budget allows it, the range and app response are worth the jump, and unlike the generic Bluetooth controllers out there it runs a dedicated app rather than a clunky universal one. If it does not, the Profile PrismPilot RF controller runs the same halos and strips for less. One thing to check before you order: the PrismPilot RF ships with just the controller and a bare wire splitter, no fused harness included, so plan on that as a separate add if your setup needs one. And if you are running an XKGlow fiber optic kit, its proprietary controller is the only one that will talk to it, a Morimoto unit will not pair with that system.
If you have not settled on your accent lighting yet, start with LED Halos & Strips before you pick a controller, since the halo or strip you choose decides which controller will actually run it. Profile Prism halos use a JST 4-pin RGB input and want the XBT Bluetooth, the PrismPilot RF, or any 4-wire RGBW+ unit. From there, matching the right controller and splitters is a lot easier.
