We at Headlight Revolution have put together the best lighting upgrades for the 2020-2022 Ford Super Duty because the 2020 refresh changed the truck in the places lighting fitment matters most. This is still part of the 2017-2022 aluminum-body Super Duty platform, but the 2020-2022 front end uses its own grille, headlights, bumper details, and fog light options.

Fitment still matters around the rest of the truck. The 2020-2022 Super Duty can have standard fog lights or factory LED fog lights, and those trucks do not always use the same fog light upgrade. At the rear, tail light upgrades need to account for incandescent, factory LED, and BLIS-equipped trucks. Dually marker lights, Platinum grille inserts, mirror lights, puddle lights, reverse lights, and third brake lights also depend on the factory equipment already on the truck.

For stock halogen headlights, well constructed H13/9008 LED bulbs can improve output while keeping the original housings. That is the value route when the goal is better light output without spending big money on full assemblies. These replacement LED bulbs are only for halogen headlights, so they will not work in trucks equipped with OEM LED headlight assemblies.

For trucks with OEM LED headlights, the only way to get better output is to upgrade the whole assembly, and that also gives the truck a cosmetic upgrade at the same time. A complete assembly can add stronger projector optics, a cleaner beam pattern, updated DRL and turn signal behavior, defrosting lenses like the XB Evo, color-changing RGB DRLs like the XRGB Evo, or simply a sharper front-end style like the Luxx headlights.

Tail light compatibility matters on the 2020-2022 Super Duty because the rear lighting is wired differently than the earlier trucks in this body style. The brake light and turn signal circuits are separated, so the Morimoto XB LED tail lights can use their amber turn signal correctly instead of making the red brake light section flash for turns. OE LED and BLIS-equipped trucks also need to be handled correctly, and the XBs are built for those factory setups with the proper module transfer where required.

For headlights, Morimoto XB Evo is the top performance option we like most for this truck. It uses quad bi-LED projector optics, selectable white or amber DRL behavior, configurable turn signal modes, and a frost-free lens heating system for cold-weather use. The optional Supercharged Drivers make the headlights so bright that they no longer meet DOT requirements for road use, but they keep the same sharp beam pattern and optical control. The XRGB Evo adds color-changing DRLs and should be treated as an off-road or show-use headlight in the U.S. and Canada because of the RGB function.

AlphaRex headlights are a different way to change the front end of the truck. The Nova headlights are the brightest AlphaRex option for the 2020-2022 Super Duty and should exceed the output of the OEM headlights, while adding LED projectors, DRLs, and sequential turn signals. The Luxx headlights are closer to OEM output, but they still give the truck a different style with LED projectors, DRLs, and AlphaRex's signature look. The Pro headlights are more of a housing and styling upgrade because they use H7 halogen projectors for the main beam.

For stock halogen trucks, H13/9008 LED bulb kits are available when the original housings are staying on the truck. The GTR Ultra 3 kit is built around four H13/9008 bulbs for the low and high beam positions, and the Morimoto 2Stroke and S-V.4 kits are also offered for the 2017-2022 Super Duty stock housings. Bulbs are the simpler install, but they do not replace the optical control, DRL function, or fresh lens quality of a complete headlight assembly.

Fog light fitment depends on how the truck was equipped from Ford. Some trucks are better served by a projector-style fog light upgrade that keeps a clean factory-style layout, while trucks with the right factory fog package can run off-road style pod light kits with vehicle-specific bezels and brackets.

The Morimoto XBG grille pieces are some of the best-looking front-end upgrades for the 2020-2022 Super Duty because they add a bright, modern DRL signature without looking like a universal add-on. The full XBG LED DRL grille fits 2020-2022 Super Duty trucks and is available with white or amber DRL bars, plus chrome or gloss black trim. For Platinum trucks, the XBG grille inserts reuse the factory Platinum grille and add Morimoto's upper and lower LED DRL housings, so the truck keeps the Platinum grille shape while gaining a cleaner, more modern lighting signature.
