Unlike the 09-14 generation's single H13 dual-beam connector, the 15-17 splits headlight functions across multiple connectors for low beam, high beam, parking light, turn signal, sidemarker, and DRL. This is actually a simpler architecture from a troubleshooting standpoint, but it introduces its own wrinkle: some 2015-2017 F-150s left the factory with OEM LED headlights. These trucks use a completely different wiring configuration, and swapping to an aftermarket headlight assembly requires a dedicated OEM LED conversion harness to translate the signals correctly.

The halogen reflector housings on this generation are notoriously tight on space, which limits how well drop-in LED bulbs can perform. The H11 housing geometry restricts heat dissipation and bulb positioning, meaning most generic LED bulbs either overheat or scatter light outside the intended beam pattern.
