We at Headlight Revolution have put together a collection of the best lighting upgrades for the 2017-2019 Ford Super Duty because this generation changed what a Super Duty could be. We like this Super Duty so much that we bought one ourselves and fitted it with the best lighting available at the time. That gave us a real truck to test, film, install parts on, and learn from, which is exactly how we prefer to build recommendations.

The 2017 model year was the first year of the newer aluminum-body Super Duty platform, with a completely different front end from the 2011-2016 trucks. Factory lighting is where fitment starts to matter. Many trucks came with halogen reflector headlights that use replaceable H13/9008 bulbs, while some trucks came with the factory LED headlight package. That difference matters because a bulb upgrade is only for the stock halogen housings. A truck with factory LED headlights needs a complete headlight assembly upgrade, not replacement headlight bulbs.

For stock halogen trucks, a well constructed H13/9008 LED bulb kit can improve output while keeping the original housings. That is the simple route when the lenses are still clear, the housings are not damaged, and a plug-and-play bulb replacement is the goal. If the truck already has factory LED headlights, or if the stock halogen housings are worn, faded, poorly aimed, or just not giving enough usable beam pattern, a full headlight assembly is the better answer.

For a full headlight replacement, we like options that fix the weak points of the factory setup instead of just changing the look of the truck. Morimoto and AlphaRex projector headlights bring better optics, cleaner DRL and turn signal functions, and a more controlled beam pattern to the 2017-2019 Super Duty. The Morimoto Evo lineup also gives this platform some serious specialty options, including RGB DRLs and Supercharged Drivers, but those features are meant to be understood before they are used on the road.

The biggest mistake on a 2017-2019 Super Duty with halogen headlights is treating it like any other bulb swap. Those headlights use four dual-beam H13/9008 bulbs, so every headlight position is capable of producing both low beam and high beam. That can work very well with the right LED bulb, but a poorly built LED bulb can scatter light, glare into oncoming traffic, and leave the truck with a beam pattern that is bright in the wrong places.

High beam function is another place cheap LED bulbs fall apart on this truck. Because all four H13/9008 bulbs are involved, the bulb has to maintain the correct low-beam and high-beam relationship. If the LED chips are in the wrong position or the driver system is not built correctly, the truck can end up with almost no usable difference between low beam and high beam. The lower bulbs are also sensitive to the truck's PWM signal, so most LED bulb upgrades need PWM modules there to prevent flickering.

Morimoto headlight assemblies are the performance-focused option we like most for this truck. They give the Super Duty a more refined beam pattern, better optical control, and a more modern front end than the stock headlights. The XB Evo assemblies add premium features like the frost-free heating system, configurable DRL behavior, and available RGB DRL options. Morimoto also offers Supercharged Drivers for the Evo assemblies when the build calls for output beyond the standard street-focused setup for off-road use.

AlphaRex gives the 2017-2019 Super Duty a different kind of headlight option. The Nova and Luxx headlights are a solid jump from stock with projector optics, LED styling, and a stronger cosmetic upgrade than the factory halogen look. The Pro headlights are mostly a cosmetic housing upgrade because they still use halogen bulbs for the main beam, but they can be paired with LED or HID bulbs when that AlphaRex look needs more output.

Fog lights, tail lights, and the smaller exterior lights round out the truck in the places Super Duty owners actually use every day. Morimoto XB Evo, XB Evo+, and 4Banger fog lights are the main choices when the goal is a better fog beam and more control in bad weather or dark job-site conditions. Tail light upgrades improve the rear of the truck for braking, towing, backing up, and overall visibility, while third brake lights, mirror lights, puddle lights, side markers, bed lights, license plate lights, reverse lights, ditch lights, and grille lights help finish the truck without relying on mismatched generic parts.
